Star Trek: Deep Space Nine — the station beside the wormhole

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

Unlike other Star Trek series, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine tells the story not of a starship but of a space station. Deep Space Nine is positioned right next to a wormhole near the recently liberated planet Bajor. Its location makes the station a crossroads for visitors of many species. Commander Benjamin Sisko and his crew welcome alien guests there, hunt down wrongdoers and try to solve every kind of unexpected problem that comes their way. Characters such as Kira Nerys, Miles O'Brien and Julian Bashir are inseparable parts of both the station's daily life and its major crises. Created by Rick Berman and Michael Piller, the show ran from 1993 for seven seasons and 173 episodes, with Avery Brooks as Sisko alongside Nana Visitor and Colm Meaney.
