Black Butterfly: A writer, a stranger and a dangerous game

KINONOOK / EN

A closer look at the story

Paul is a writer who has been struggling for some time to find inspiration. Living alone in his house in the mountains and unable to catch the spark he needs to write, Paul one day gives a lift to a hitchhiker he meets on the road. Wanting to help the stranger, Paul even offers him somewhere to stay. That kind gesture, however, soon becomes a nightmare. The guest, who turns out to be unstable, holds Paul captive in his own home and compels him to write. As the relationship between the two men grows ever stranger and more unsettling, long-buried secrets begin to surface one by one. The tense power game between host and guest gradually becomes a deadly struggle. Who is really hiding what only starts to become clear as the story nears its end. Directed by Brian Goodman and written by Justin Stanley and Marc Frydman, this 93-minute 2017 thriller stars Antonio Banderas, Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Piper Perabo.
