Infinite Challenge

Infinite Challenge: Korea's first real-variety show

Original title: 무한도전

A closer look at the story

Infinite Challenge is often credited as the pioneering "real-variety" show on Korean television. Most of it is unscripted, and it uses a format similar to the challenge-based reality shows familiar to Western viewers. What sets Infinite Challenge apart, though, is that the tasks given to its cast are often ridiculous, absurd or simply impossible to accomplish. As a result, the result feels more like satirical comedy entertainment than an ordinary reality or competition series. The hosts and staff sum up its spirit with three D-words: Difficult, Dirty and Dangerous. Its line-up featured Yu Jae-seok, Jeong Hyeong-don, Noh Hong-chul, Park Myung-soo and Jeong Jun-ha. Developed by Kim Tae-ho and Kwon Seok, the programme began on MBC in 2005 and ended after 616 episodes.
