Jason and the Argonauts

A closer look at the story

Jason and the Argonauts is a two-part miniseries that brings one of Greek mythology's most famous hero tales to the screen. While still a small boy, Jason sees his father brutally overthrown and killed by his uncle Pelias. Years later, now a grown man, Jason returns home determined to reclaim the throne that is rightfully his. Pelias, however, orders that his nephew be put to death. To save his own life, Jason is left with just one option: to embark on a dangerous sea quest for the legendary Golden Fleece. He assembles a colourful crew of very different men and takes to the sea aboard a ship called the Argos. Created by Nick Willing and broadcast on NBC in 2000, this adventure miniseries stars Jason London as Jason, with Ciarán Hinds, Brian Thompson and Jolene Blalock also in the cast.
