Verity

A closer look at the story

Jeremy Crawford, husband of best-selling novelist Verity Crawford, hires Lowen Ashleigh to complete his wife's unfinished books. Verity is no longer in a position to finish them herself, and Lowen's job is to carry the series on by writing in her name. Moving into the Crawford family home so she can do the work, Lowen begins going through Verity's notes and drafts. During this research, however, she comes across autobiographical notes in which Verity writes about her own life. What Lowen reads in those pages shakes her to the core, because the truths they reveal are deeply disturbing. Before long, she finds herself caught up in what may turn out to be a deadly conspiracy. Adapted from Colleen Hoover's novel, directed by Michael Showalter from a screenplay by Nick Antosca, this 114-minute 2026 thriller stars Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett.
