Amazing Saturday

A closer look at the story

Amazing Saturday is a South Korean entertainment show that brings music and food together in a playful competition. Each week, famished celebrities listen to tracks old and new, chart-toppers and classics alike. Their task is to write down the lyrics of a particular section of the song correctly. That is not as easy as it sounds. Even when a tune feels familiar, the section to be transcribed is often hard to make out, with the words slurred or drowned under heavy beats. If the celebrities get the lyrics right, they earn the right to share exquisite dishes from different regions as their reward. If they get them wrong, however, they have to watch a professional eater polish off the food. Names such as Shin Dong-yup, Park Na-rae, Kim Dong-hyun and Moon Se-yoon are in the cast. Created by Lee Tae-kyeong, the programme has aired on tvN since 2018.
